What Are Clear Aligners and How Do They Work?
Clear dental aligners are trays made of medical-grade thermoplastic material that are nearly invisible when worn; they apply calibrated pressure to the teeth to gradually move them into the correct position. Each pair of aligners corresponds to a step in the treatment plan, which is clinically determined by a team of qualified orthodontists.
Unlike traditional fixed braces, clear aligners are removable, allowing patients to eat, drink, and maintain normal oral hygiene. They are typically replaced every 10 days, following a specific schedule agreed upon with the dentist.
The Cristaline system used by HTD Medical incorporates Zendura™ FLX material from Bay Materials (Straumann® Group): a flexible inner layer ensures initial comfort, while the rigid outer layer provides stability and consistent strength over time—two characteristics that translate the digital treatment plan into predictable clinical results.
